Re: Why does Weather Underground sometimes say not reporting in error

It's not just your Ambient station.  I see this quite frequently with my AcuRite station (reporting rapidfire via MeteoBridge).  I'll got for a week with it showing "Last update XX seconds ago" and have my "gold star".  Then for no apparent reason I'll check it and it will be hours since update and I'm gone off the map.  My data still graphs with no breaks, yet I'm gone from the map losing my "gold star" status.  Then a few hours later I'll check and I'm back to reporting "XX seconds ago" and back on the map.

I've sent messages to WU about it, as after researching it I found that the station may drop off the map if it fails the "Quality Check (QC)".  My temperatures/winds/humidity/rainfall are always within a tenth or so of stations within 2 miles of me.  I asked them that if I was being dropped due to a QC problem, could they let me know what the problem is so I can fix it, but I've not heard from them.

Anymore I've found I'm happiest just enjoying the data locally (via my displays at home) and don't pay attention to the websites.  Cool to have and share and to look at when I'm not home, but too stressful trying to figure out the "why" when it isn't working.  When I first started with sharing my data (CWOP) I was stressing myself out trying to fix everything to meet the checks via Gladstone.  I shut off the daily e-mails with the QC information and have been much happier.  Apparently it is all beyond my control.
