Keith thanks. That makes sense and that's what I envisioned I'd use (fence top-rail). Just never thought about mounting it the other way around. Thanks!

Could have bought an  straight 20 ft sch 40 pipe from your local pipe shop and done the same thing. Yes  20 ft pipe will transport on your vechile as most are around 19 ft.John

Not my vehicle.  As it was I wasn't able to close the hatchback fully on my 10' toprail. Was about 2" too long but except for some paint scrubbed off the inside of door, I managed to get home safely...

Have you tried going into the console and using the calibration screen to set your temperature there?

Run the FCC ID through this:  https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid  While the schematics and block diagrams are usually confidential, the test report often lists the chip.

Does the WS-1200-ip have a separate indoor temp/humidity sensor?  If so, try setting it up next to your outdoor station for a while and see how they compare.
